  1. i like the mention of the nest in here because it underlines that our careless building over the countryside is making wild creatures homeless

    A whole patch of trees near my home was removed in a matter of days to make room for a sump.

    I was wondering what happened to the small animals and birds that lived in these woods, when I noticed a single tree on the edge of the clearing with a squirrel’s nest high in the branches.

    I don’t mean to be overly dramatic, but it must have been terrifying.
